Theresa May de Vera - Vice President
Commissioner De Vera became a member of the Disabled Access Appeals Commission in August 2023. Ms. De Vera holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Theology and Bioethics from Loyola Marymount University. In 1996, she sustained a life altering injury where after, she found her passion to be a disability rights advocate. She has been recognized on the federal, state and local levels for her advocacy. In 2005, she was appointed to serve on the Los Angeles City Commission on Disability by former Mayor Villaraigosa, later reappointed by former Mayor Eric Garcetti and served as commission President from 2015 until 2020. In 2008, she was appointed to serve on the Access Services Board of Directors and currently serves as the Board Chair.
