In December 2016, the City of Los Angeles established the Existing Buildings Energy & Water Efficiency Program (EBEWE) with the intent to reduce energy and water consumption in buildings across LA. These efficiency improvements will lower energy use, water use, and greenhouse gas emissions citywide, making Los Angeles a more sustainable metropolis.
Effective 2017, property owners whose buildings meet specific criteria were issued notices to register through the EBEWE program, thus allowing the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to better track energy usage.
