The design team behind the IT House is the Los Angeles based studio Taalman Architecture led by architect Linda Taalman and a talented team of architects and designers. In developing each IT House, our team works to fashion high design and efficient solutions
using quality engineered materials to deliver architectural solutions to each site for assembly with precision and affordability in mind. In the past 15 years, IT House has built over 20 homes throughout California and the US using a specific combination
of researched and refined components and fittings to create environments that integrate with their sites, are sustainable and improve one’s relationship to the environment and landscape.
Taalman Architecture is a full-service architectural firm offering architectural, energy system design, site design, landscape, master planning, and interior design services. Working in tandem with our consultants, we also provide structural, civil, energy
and mechanical engineering. Collectively, our team of talented architects, designers and engineers are able to realize each project holistically, integrating all the elements necessary to create responsible architectural solutions. IT House provides
design, engineering and construction administration in addition to manufacturing the primary building components for use in the assembly of the IT House system.
IT House System/ Project Description
The IT House uses a flexible building system that is off-site fabricated and on-site assembled to create an efficient and minimal aluminum and glass structure. The architectural vision for the IT House emerges out of an ambition to embed a level of detail
and performance into the materials to improve the building process and to create spaces that enable the dweller to be directly tuned to their environment. Embedded within the simplicity of the design is an alertness to the essentials, creating a focused
environment for maintaining connections with one’s environment and the natural world.
The IT House ADU standard plans; the tower, bar, box, cube, pod, and court, tailor the materials and innovations of the IT House system to work with small sites and achieve a high level of functionality within a small footprint.
The materials and components used combine beautiful finishes that integrate the layers of a typical building into fewer and smarter parts with economy and efficiency for fast on-site assembly in order to minimize waste and provide a low-impact alternative
to traditional building methods.
